A little bit about me

From corporate life to Yoga
After 15 years working in Sustainability and Environment, I decided to follow a different path. In 2017, I trained as a yoga Teacher and Doula and founded Mama Gives Light, combining my passion for yoga with my interest in supporting women through pregnancy, birth and early motherhood.
Today, I teach welcoming yoga classes in Bruntsfield and Morningside, Edinburgh, including Vinyasa Yoga, Pregnancy Yoga and Postnatal Yoga. My teaching brings together mindful movement, strength, mobility, breath and relaxation, with a focus on helping students feel comfortable and confident in their own bodies.
Whether you are new to yoga, returning to your practice, looking to build strength and flexibility, or navigating pregnancy and motherhood, my aim is to create a warm, supportive space where you can move, breathe and reconnect with yourself.
How it all began
The first time I went to a yoga class, I fell asleep! I was 19, living in Monterrey, Mexico, and had no idea that two decades later yoga would become such an important part of my life.
I moved to Edinburgh in 2006, where I discovered a regular yoga practice at the Iyengar Centre. I fell in love with the focus on alignment, precision and mindful movement, and continue to practise there whenever I can.
My yoga journey deepened when I became pregnant with my first child in 2015. Yoga helped me stay strong, grounded and connected to my body through pregnancy, birth and motherhood. Now, as a mother of three, I continue to explore how yoga can support us through the many changes our bodies and lives experience.
For me, yoga has evolved from what I thought was just a physical practice, to be completely embedded into who I am and in the way I strive to lead my life.

About my teaching
As a yoga teacher in Edinburgh, my aim is to create welcoming, inclusive yoga classes where you can move, breathe and connect with your body at your own pace.
I teach with kindness and compassion, offering a space where you can explore your practice without pressure, judgement or the need to be perfect. Whether you are new to yoga or have been practising for years, you are welcome exactly as you are.
After almost two decades of practising yoga, I continue to learn and explore different traditions. I draw on my experience in Vinyasa, Ashtanga and Iyengar Yoga, as well as my studies in yoga philosophy and chanting, to create classes that combine mindful movement, strength and mobility, functional movement, breathwork and relaxation.
Wherever you are in life, my hope is that you leave class feeling calmer, stronger and more connected. Yoga is a lifelong practice, and my role is simply to guide and support you as you discover the rhythm that works for you.
My training
I first qualified as a Yoga Teacher in 2017. I have completed specialist training in Pregnancy and Postnatal Yoga, including 85-hour Pregnancy and Postnatal modules with the British Wheel of Yoga, as well as Pregnancy Yoga training with Sally Parkes.
In 2021, I completed Active Birth Teacher Training with Janet Balaskas, a teacher I had wanted to study with for many years. This training deepened my understanding of movement, breathing and practical preparation for birth.
In 2022, I completed the YogaBirth 300-hour training, one of the UK's most comprehensive pregnancy yoga teacher trainings. The year-long training coincided with my third pregnancy, giving me the opportunity to experience and apply much of what I was learning first-hand.
I now bring this specialist knowledge into my Pregnancy and Postnatal Yoga classes in Edinburgh, combining yoga, movement, breathwork and practical birth preparation to support women throughout pregnancy, birth and the early postnatal period.

About my classes
My Vinyasa Flow Yoga classes in Edinburgh offer an opportunity to build strength, improve mobility and develop greater awareness of your body, while my approach to Beginner Yoga and Gentle Yoga encourages you to work gradually and discover what feels right for you. I believe yoga should meet you where you are, rather than asking you to fit a particular idea of what yoga should look like.
My specialist Pregnancy Yoga and Prenatal Yoga classes in Edinburgh draw on my YogaBirth training and honour the pregnant body and its innate wisdom. Through movement, breathwork, practical knowledge and birth preparation, I aim to support women throughout pregnancy and into the postnatal period.
My Postnatal Yoga and Mum & Baby Yoga classes in Edinburgh offer a gentle and supportive way to reconnect with your body, rebuild strength and enjoy movement with your baby.
I teach āsana and prāṇāyāma in all my classes, creating space to slow down, breathe and listen to your body. My small yoga classes allow me to offer individual guidance while maintaining a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
